Solar Eclipse

Eclipses in General

The sun and moon’s rays have an effect on the earth. Of course, when we refer to “rays” here, we mean it not just on the more superficial levels, but also on the astrological and Transcendental level. Normal sun and moon shine create a normal environment for the earth. Physical earth is made up of the five elements and those five elements have a certain balance under normal conditions. The same is true with our physiology.

The eclipse affects the sun and moon rays, creating an abnormal environment for the earth. This also upsets the balance of the five elements, upsetting our environment on earth and also our physiology, including our mind and emotions. Scientists have done research and found that during an eclipse, there is an increase in bacteria and viruses.

Because there is imbalance physically, it is suggested that people not eat or drink because the body does not process food and water correctly. It is a little bit like avoiding certain foods when a person is sick. Some do not eat from sunrise to sunset that day and others just avoid eating near the time of the actual eclipse. Because there is an imbalance mentally and emotionally, it is suggested that people go inward and meditate or chant mantras.

It is advised not to look at eclipses. Even if you do not look at the eclipse, the effects of an eclipse last 3-6 months. It states in the Vedas that as a result of an eclipse, there can be changes in nature and natural disasters can occur.

For people, with the lunar eclipse, the effect is on the mind/emotions, whereas with the solar eclipse, the effect is more on the whole body and health.

During the whole solar eclipse (in Asheville, this would be from 1:00-4:05pm), it is best to stay inside and not look outside or even allow light in. During the eclipse, it is best to meditate or chant, and it is a good time to go inward. Finish solid food 3 hours prior to the start of the eclipse and wait to eat 2 hours after the eclipse ends. Shower right after the eclipse and then you can start cooking. Don’t save cooked food to eat after the eclipse, including in the refrigerator. No showering, drinking, or eating during the eclipse.

1:08 pm Partial Eclipse begins
2:37 pm Maximum Eclipse
4:01 pm Partial Eclipse ends

If you are visiting or staying at Mount Soma, once Sri Somesvara Temple has been purified (probably after 6:00 pm), then offer a red flower to the Sun (outside at the Navagrahas), and do Pradakshina 9 times while chanting “Shri Ram Ravaye Namaha.”

This particular eclipse especially affects those people whose Moon is in the sign of Cancer, Leo, or Virgo in their Jyotish (Vedic astrology) chart. Those people whose Moon is in Scorpio or Pisces also need to make sure to follow the guidelines suggested above.

Advanced Techniques Phase 2

Phase 1 was so inspiring! Since immediately after the course, my mind has been on Phase 2. It is incredibly exciting. There is certainly a finesse involved in teaching these subtle, yet powerful, techniques. It required several years to find the ‘in,’ i.e., how to convey the techniques to others. Some of you may remember early attempts at the beginning such as ‘the cave,’ meditation powder, hand placements, and even the first teaching of Phase 1 to the Ashram people.

It was incredibly gratifying to see how easily, how seamlessly, everyone in Phase 1 took to the techniques. Now that the proper ‘in’ has been found (“Well begun is half done!”), I can hardly wait until Phase 2 begins! As enthusiastic as the response was to Phase 1, Phase 2 and then Phase 3 get increasingly incredible.

Though references to these techniques can be found here and there, to my knowledge, the actual method of practice is simply not available, lest it be perhaps in the Himalayas at some obscure ashram closed to but a few devoted members. I honestly believe this is the first time in recorded history that they are offered to the world. It is humbling to have found them. Discovering them is, by far, the greatest thing I, as a teacher, have ever done.

We will be offering Phase 1 again this winter at Mount Soma, so there is still an opportunity to join the group and do Phase 2 with everyone next summer. It is not certain when and how the techniques will be offered again. This first Phase 1-3 series will be the one that has my utmost attention.

These techniques not only make meditation extremely powerful and profound, but also fun and fascinating. I hope those of you who did not have the opportunity to take Phase 1 already, will be able to join us this winter and continue on with the group through the adventures of Phase 2 and 3. The Kingdom of Heaven does indeed dwell within. Take the journey!

The Trinity

When Consciousness perceives itself as other, duality is born. Simultaneously, a third thing is born: the process of that perceiving, that knowing, of ‘other.’

The deeper the level of existence, the greater the freedom; i.e., the less the identity, the more freedom; i.e., the more possibilities for the process of perceiving/knowing.

The process of knowing determines/defines the nature of the perceiver/knower and of the perceived/known, the subject and the object. As the multiplicity of creation emerges, the multiplicity of processes of knowing emerges.

Every point in space/time is Consciousness… simultaneously, a unique Knower and a Known. Diversity, non-homogeneity, emerges. Related ‘Knowers’ coalesce to form planets and galaxies. The result is a non-homogenous universe built upon the foundation of the homogeneity of pure Consciousness. The deeper, the more freedom. The more superficial, the less freedom. Matter is coalesced Consciousness.

Wave Motion, Identity, Gravity, and Time

Identity comes with the notion of ‘other.’ On the deepest Transcendental level, there is no identity. On the deeper levels of relativity, identity is less concrete. The electron moves in one direction, only to let that go due to minimal identity, and swings back in the opposite direction. The pendulum cyclical motion permeates all relative existence.

On the surface/physical level of relativity/reality, identity is strong. The stronger the identity, the longer in time is the wavelength of the pendulum swing. On deep levels, an electron is a rapid in time, pulsating wave. On the more superficial physical levels, the time cycles are longer: From the oscillation of a violin string, to the rising and setting of the sun, to the yearly cycle and beyond… the frequency depends on the physical nature of the object.

The physical level is the level with the most extreme identity. Identity that holds the atom together is potential energy that can be released when the atom is split. As identity is reduced, the dynamic/kinetic energy increases. Gravity is identity. The non-homogeneity of the universe is the product of identity. Identity permeates the reality continuum. Ultimately, everything is the unified field; everything is Consciousness.

What Is Matter and the Nature of Identity?

The foundation of existence is Consciousness… i.e., the unified field. Identity is a quality of consciousness.

Are the quantum, fundamental, building blocks of existence, particles or waves? Reality is an identity continuum. On the deepest level of relativity, there are no particles, only Consciousness, then probability clouds… waves. An electron on that level is a probability wave. If you grab onto the wave, it collapses down to a particle at a particular point in space and time. Matter, then, is a level of existence, a level of identity, in the reality continuum. Matter is Consciousness coalesced through identity-with-a-perspective, determining how the probability cloud is perceived, grabbed onto, and thusly how it emerges as a point in space-time.

Consciousness manifests on the deepest level of existence as space, Akasha, the ‘glue’ that holds all levels of relativity together. Particles on one level, waves on a deeper level, unified and held together through Akasha.

Space-time, Special and General Relativity in a Nutshell

Consciousness becomes conscious of itself, and the notion of other is born.
The sense of separation between those two births space.
The continued, sequential unfolding of that process births distance and time.
Time and space are thusly intimately entwined.

As to the question: Why must there be an upper limit to velocity, i.e., the speed of light?
Answer: That need not be. But if there were not, the notion of distance, and therefore space, and therefore the notion of time, would not exist, and so there would be no universe.
Special relativity is just that simple.

Dimensionality, then, is dependent upon space-time.
Acceleration through space-time alters the experience, the nature of that dimensionality.
General relativity.

Theoretical physics first must understand nature. Then, the equations are found to express that nature in the language of mathematics. Trying to derive the nature of things from the math is a folly. First, nature must be understood. Then, the math is found to express that. The math then further clarifies the understanding.

On Decision Making

On Decision-Making - Michael MamasRemember… you can justify anything with the intellect, and people do. Ultimately, our intellect rallies around our feelings to justify them. Feel deeply within, which is different from feeling intensely. Wisdom is the integration of the fine (deep) feeling level with our thoughts, and ultimately, our actions. Wise decisions are based upon deep feelings, not intense emotions. Intense emotions are often (perhaps usually) not all that deep, not that wise. It is not wise to make decisions based upon whatever emotions overwhelm you.

In life, look at all the alternatives, consider all the facts, think, reflect and ponder, then go with the one you feel, from deep within, the best about… or in some cases, dislike the least. Consider the facts… pros and cons… but in the final analysis, what matters is how you feel about those facts from deep within, not how hot or cold your emotions are running. Wisdom is the integration of the depth of your being with your thoughts and actions. Thoughts and actions are best based upon the depth, not the surface. What lies at your depth are fine feelings, not intense emotions.

Great Things

Great things emerge out of ideas that were originally abstract. Think Newton, Watson and Crick, Maxwell, and Einstein, to name just a few. And now, think of the technology of the Transcendent. And furthermore, those ideas formed predominantly by individuals in their twenties and perhaps thirties.

Smart

Smart Blog - Michael MamasSomeone once said to the Guru, “Intelligent people might be smart, but they have no deep feelings.” To which the Guru replied, “That is not possible. The intellect is founded in deep feelings. Without a refined feeling level at the depth of one’s being, the intellect cannot be clear.”

Different people show their feelings in different ways, express themselves in different ways, but that is not for others to judge.
