Autoimmune 2

cowI was asked a question in comments to my autoimmune blog to which I responded:

Once a mode of function is established in the physiology, it can be difficult to remove it. After the physiology is ‘healed’ the memory remains. Even when the initial cause is gone, some degree of predisposition to the old habit is still there. Then again, is the initial cause in this sense ever really ‘gone’? The psyche too has its residuals. In this regard it is best not to think in terms of complete and total healing. There is always some level of tendency to return to that which is familiar.

Everything is everywhere. You are one with everything. Everything is there within you. Unity does not mean unity with the things you think are good and elimination of the things you do not. It means unity with everything. So healing is not about the removal of this and that. It is about the physiology having a ‘healthy relationship with…’ this and that. Of course, a healthy relationship with many things is to keep them at a distance, but not to deny the nature of their presence in your world. Life is indeed subtle.

There is a notion that energetic cords get created between people in relationship. If the relationship goes wrong, energy ‘healers’ sometimes think of removing or cutting those cords. That is actually not possible. In this sense, cords eternally exist between all things in existence. We are all one. Better to think in terms of cleaning the cords rather than attempting to eliminate that which is, in reality, eternal. A healthy relationship with people is to keep them each at the appropriate distance (i.e. have healthy boundaries) while at the same time being awake to the level where we are all one. Humanity has a great deal to learn about healthy boundaries, both culturally and socially.  The word that comes to mind is “integrity”. This becomes spontaneous as the level of ones evolution rises.

Autoimmune Disorders

AbstractI was asked to comment on the psychodynamics of autoimmune disorders.

People sometimes associate physical disorders with psychodynamic patterns.  It is sometimes accurate.

Regarding autoimmune disorders, the body is attacking itself.  The idea then would be that one is attacking ones self psychodynamically, perhaps some sort of self-loathing or self-judgment on some level.  It is generally cloaked with denial.  You need to decide for yourself if this applies to you and if so how.

Similarly, allergies to the environment can imply aversion to what is around you. Again, one must decide for ones self if this applies to them or not.

More on Politics and the Presidency

dumpsterRegarding the blog ‘How to win the Presidential Election”: Some found it funny.  Some found it sad.  The comments were interesting.  The Will Rogers and Mark Twain quotes help us understand that this sort of political behavior has been the case for a long time.

When children bicker, we see past it so easily.  We do not judge or get depressed about it.  We even sometimes chuckle over the absurdity. Similarly, we must see beyond the tussles between political parties, individuals, and nations.  Your vision of a current situation must be clear for you to deal with it wisely.  To catch people in the web of political polarity is the trap used by the powers that be (the rakshasa value) to perpetuate the status quo.  Political candidates are merely actors in the play.

Though it is right for us to tend to it on its own level, we must see beyond it. To heal a problem, it must be understood… just as children bickering must be seen through the eyes of an adult to be dealt with wisely. As Albert Einstein said, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”

The status quo can, must, and will evolve.  That is our purpose. That is our duty.  Responsibility means the ability to respond.  Evolution of consciousness is the way.  We have the knowledge of the means.  We have the ability to respond.

How to Win the Presidential Election

“I don’t make jokes.  I just watch Washington and report the facts.” Will Rogers.

mockingbirdTo win the presidential election:

• Think primarily of 30 second sound bites.

• Do not hesitate to lie.  Very few people have the time to research the facts and even those who do will not be believed if you come across better on camera than they do.

• Determine what most people want to believe and tell them that.

• Do not hesitate to tell one special interest group one thing and another something else. When confronted about the hypocrisy, say with great conviction and authority, something that makes no sense and stand by it.

• Whatever your opponent says about you, say the same about them.

• Ignore the truth and the facts. Claim anything that will get you elected.

• Go for the money… use it to buy the election.

• If someone tells you your facts are incorrect, tell them their facts are incorrect.

• Pay maximum attention to how you hold yourself and how you look on camera.  That is what gets the votes.  Be cool, calm, and collected.  Pretend like you are in a Hollywood movie.

• Smile… it is not an election of substance… it is an election of charisma.
We live in Kali Yuga.

Curiosity

around schoolIt is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education. – Albert Einstein

At times it feels like this quote is only barely the case.  My teachings are generally held up to the measuring tape of others indoctrinations.  The trick is to look through your education to see what lies beyond it.  To do so is to be a visionary.

In this regard, most are far too nearsighted, evaluating the horizon in terms of that which is immediately at hand.  This is no disrespect to those who preceded us.  In fact, to not look through and beyond is to disrespect the value of what they have given.

Only the live tree bears fruit.

Discourse on Devotion and Enlightenment

plantsIf you are enjoying my blogs, please make it a point to read the comments.  I often add my own comments in response to them.  It is sometimes a lively interchange with those who choose to participate.  I welcome you to join in or just monitor the interactions.

Recently, I added this response in comments to the Devotion blog:

My devotion along the path was to knowledge… to truth. I was not the least bit biased or vested in what I found… how it looked… or where I had to go to find it. My pursuit was for understanding… not over-standing. “I” was completely secondary to “Truth.” What I found left me in total awe. In that moment “I” ceased to exist, though it took time rest with it. That is to say it required a period of time for me to adjust. In fact, it is fair to say that there are not really levels of enlightenment… there are just levels of getting accustomed to it once it is gained.

When it first happened, I had to reconstruct everything I thought I knew. Everything changed. My “spiritual knowledge” was turned upside down and inside out. And that was after much study of spiritual books and the teachings of masters.

In a talk I gave yesterday at a meditation retreat here at Mount Soma, I went further into the discussion.  I will ask the Mount Soma staff to make that recording available and post here in comments how you can receive it.

Tomorrow (Sunday, May 20, 2012) I will be going to Carey, NC, to address a group at an international conference on Vedic studies and culture.  If possible, we will make a recording available.

Also, I am thinking to make live video of my lectures available on the internet.  We will look into the practical aspects of making that happen.

People

kidsThis is an interesting Einstein quote.  Does it indicate a certain lack of integration with life?  Or is it a profound statement of his understanding of the nature of relative existence?

“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or objects”.  – Albert Einstein

Though we may hurt and disappoint one and other from time to time, life is still all about people…  personified beings.

Life is rooted in perfection. Every individual is rooted in perfect.  Yet like a tree rooted in the stability of Mother Earth, the branches dance with the winds of karma.

Integration means harmony of the depth with the surface.  Love people.  Do not be confused by the winds of karma. And do not be oblivious to them.

Human evolution means the integration of life.

Reality Twists

branchIn the recent San Francisco class I discussed how consciousness twists and bends relative existence.  From different angles, the following two quotes beautifully refer to this same principle:

“As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.”  – Einstein

“A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”. –  Winston Churchill

Reality is a gradient.  The trick is not to straighten out Nature – nor is it to try to force Nature to conform to your twists.

It is to live in harmony with the twists and turns of the fabric of reality as it flows to the tune of the song of life… of Nature… of Natural Law.
