Everyone has those moments.
Imagine a warm, quiet, summer’s Sunday afternoon. Perhaps you decide to take a moment… a moment to rest… to lie on your bed as a gentle breeze moves through the window’s sheer curtains.
Once settled in you notice… a robin’s song echoes from a backyard tree… the faint hum of a neighbor’s lawn mower… the distant murmur of children at play. Then it happens – a subtle, but palpable, shift in your being and in the space all around you.
Time stands still. An eternal quiet holds you. The moment is exquisite.
When will it next be noticed?
Perhaps while you sit under a favorite tree; or while lounging on the porch with a morning cup of tea; or while taking an evening stroll through the neighborhood…
Beautiful…

For the first time while meditating a couple of days ago,I experienced something new. Seven minutes seems to have went by without me. It was an experience that is hard to define because it was so different and although I am not sure..I think it was a positive thing:). The plan I am working now is to create a life that includes more time to sit under a tree “and” quietly enjoying a morning cup of tea “and” taking a stroll through the neighborhood…
Brahmarshi..sometimes your lessons are complex and in much need of decernment however I also thank you for the reminder about the simple things that so many of us forget to experience and to appreciate.
And sometimes at a particularly lovely birth, those first moments of family that I witness. Time slows down for me for hours after…as a matter of fact…sometimes it’s hard to get back to “normal American” speed in life.
Orin,
Correct…
No thing is happening… Pure Silence… Pure Isness… Pure Consciousness… Pure Shiva value… Eternally Omnipresent
Orin,
Though I realize you already know this, it is still important to mention that the Shiva value one experiences in this state likely is not the deepest level of that value. Everything exists transgradiently through the reality continuum, i.e. on different levels of reality. Though the sense of ‘time standing still’ is exquisite and does map on to (i.e. parallel or correspond with) the transcendental value of Shiva, it is likely not being experienced on that deepest level. Everyone does transcend for a moment here or there, and those who practice the Surya Ram Meditation do so regularly and for longer periods of time, but to be established on that level permanently is not so common and is called enlightenment.
Living a life dedicated to awakening to that deepest level, is the only thing that makes sense to me.
Well said Orin.
Jai Guru Dev!
exquisite moments…
A part if me feels like there is a reason, but I still have to ask why can’t every moment be like that?
Stacy,
Beautiful question… I want to give an entire talk on this subject some day. It can be viewed from so many angles. For example:
1] The manifestation of the universe is so exquisite. People lose themselves to the dazzle of the manifestation
2] Evolution is a process that takes time. It culminates in full awakening to the Self while still being able to function in the relative. Everything gravitates in that direction. In time, all things return to that Source.
3] Even once fully awakened, ones attention is not alway on the experience of time standing still.
4] Without any ignore-ance, relativity would cease to exist. Relativity is born out of ignorance. The very meaning of the word ‘relativity’ implies lack of awareness of the Absolute. In the state of enlightenment, you can live in the world of relativity, but are fully awake to the experience that you are not of it… YOU, your Essence, lies beyond relativity. In the state of enlightenment this is not just a beautiful concept, mood, emotion, or attitude. It is a direct living experience… crystal clear. To attain that level of life, the physiology must be cultured… it is the culmination of the long journey home.
Jai Guru Dev!
Beautiful. I love the answer for us to Tracy’s question.
