Sigmund Freud said, “The more the fruits of knowledge become accessible to men, the more widespread is the decline of religious belief.”
It would be better said, “The more the fruits of knowledge become accessible to men, the more purified our understanding of spirituality becomes.”
Only if religious tenets are blindly held does the gain of knowledge become threatening.
New knowledge, when held properly, deepens our understanding of spirituality, it does not undermine it.
Hallelujah!
yeah. I’m going to soak that in… to myself, my familiy, this culture and this world.
Yes, when a new discovery or theory comes up in physics, it evolves the science. Nobody decides science is bogus. Yet when a deeper insight into spirituality comes up, so many are so quick to refute spirituality in it entirety, while the spiritually oriented all to often feel threatened by the very idea of having to evolve their understanding of the Divine and instead dig their heels in the ground and bury their head in the sand. Resisting any evolution to your current understanding is quite an arrogant stance. Yes?!
