emails

I am receiving an ever-increasing numbers of emails in response to my blogs.

~

I read them all and am often moved by them.

~

They are important to me and very much appreciated. You are very important to me.  Your evolution is important to me and certainly, of course, to the whole world.

Even if you are one who does not travel and we never meet in the physical, I will continue to offer all I can through this website to facilitate your evolution.

Pictures

As we continue the construction of the Somanath Temple at Mount Soma, we thought it would be nice to show some images of the Temple and Mount Soma that have been taken over the past few years.

Meditation Retreats – Behind the Scenes

Everything about the retreats is structured with intent. Meditation retreats are a time to quiet the fire of identity with the surface. During the day people bring their awareness to the absolute through meditation. In the evening we have a meeting.

~

One purpose of the evening meeting is to enliven the subtle value of the transcendent by listening to Vedic chants. Another purpose goes unnoticed by many, but it is perhaps of even greater importance – disuse atrophy. After meditating all day, during the evening meetings, in waking state, without allowing the fire of identity to be fanned, the identity atrophies, softens, dissolves away through disuse. This is essential to the integration process. It is similar to taking a few minutes to come out of meditation before you come back into activity.

~

Meditation is of little value if its effects are not integrated into daily life. Skipping evening meetings to fan the flame, ie., have dinner with friends, etc…, is like trying to fill up a bathtub with the drain open. It makes no sense.

~

This is just one example of the subtly of the structuring of the retreats. You will do well to not second-guess the program, but to instead follow it along innocently.

I hope to see you all at our next meditation event; Mother Divine, Oct. 8 – 17, 2010.

Guru Purnima

Guru Purnima is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the Ashada month, normally in July. This year, Guru Purnima was last night and we had a wonderful celebration in the moonlight. The evening was perfect with a soft warm breeze and a bright moon. Some pictures from the evening are posted in the Gallery.

Mount Soma Living

Driving along I-26 on our way home from a family vacation at the beach, I was reflecting upon the week.  It was great fun.  However, I feel obligated to offer you this warning.  Once you’ve lived at Mount Soma, to go outside of its exquisite influence is uncomfortable.  I look forward to getting back to where the environment feeds my life so fully and so deeply.

When you live at Mount Soma, I believe you will come to know exactly what I’m talking about.  Our work is to bring that out more fully to where it permeates the entire world.  Once that is done, all the world’s problems will in short order resolve themselves.  Until it is done, such resolution will remain but a dream.

Privilege

As you all know, terrorism has caused Homeland Security to become quite strict.  As a result, it has been terribly challenging to get the workers in from India to complete the temple. Consequently, we are going to have to postpone the consecration of the temple.
During this time, my thoughts and reflections go out to all of you.  Through the years, we have encountered so many obstacles together.  It has been said since ancient times that such obstacles inevitably come up when a Shiva Temple is built.  Even more so when we create our Guru Chula (Enlightened City).  I am most grateful that you have committed yourselves to be part of the process.  Know that you are much more than simply course participants.  You are a soldier for global evolution.
It may seem, in the greater scheme of things, to be a small inconvenience that schedules need to be rearranged or housing has been limited during the construction years.  However, your willingness to endure is far more than that.  It is the very substance required to bring forth our dream of a better world.  I solute you for being an integral part of this noble effort.  Soon, when the temple is finally consecrated, all these obstacles will be behind us.  The wind will no longer be in our face, but will be at our back, supporting our progress forward.  You will be among those whose dedication and perserverence made it so.
During these days of Wimbledon tennis, the words of Billy Jean King ring true; “Pressure is a privilege.”  We have for all these years been moving forward together.  It is a great privilege for me to be blessed with the opportunity to do so with you.
