The following quote is true in all fields of life… politically, philosophically, socially, morally, economically, and so on. The field of spirituality is no exception. Like a reed blowing from side to side in the wind, society swings like a pendulum through varying degrees of perception of truth.
Though all things are rooted in Truth, few see the Truth underlying all things. Yet people cling to their current notions of truth. This is the way of the world.
“The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.” – George Orwell
I love the quote.
That quote touches on so many different levels of understanding. I wrote a lot more but deleted it because it was just my stuff. Why do I have so much “stuff”? That is a rhetorical question. : ) Is a good barometer of stuff when you heart beats faster and you get emotional?
Orwell’s perception is very insightful. Even I’ve run into such vehement antagonism when bringing up the Knowledge. Poor Brahmarshi gets truckloads aimed at him for simply speaking Truth.
Ironically, the further society drifts from the truth, the more it also calls forth the prophets or truth-sayers who will name the “obvious” that people prefer oblivion to. I guess this is how we attract what we hate…
I loved the prophets in the Christian Bible… It was said that no prophet is welcome in his own homeland.
Good and important point Joy Anna,
the more you twist or bend a twig, the more tension is built up within it. At some point, it springs back to its original and natural position. As I am fond of saying, to understand everything you have only to look to the trees.
Upon reading the quote (this time), the first thing I thought, was what level of exixstance were Orwell thoughts? Surely not just that of the relative, or he wouldn’t have been able to describe the relative with such clarity.
As usual Brahmarshi brings us to a more thoughtful area of contempation of Orwell’s quote, which enlivens the quote, opens the doors for more areas of exploration in all levels of exiistance. So I ask is this the same as Yin and Yang? Or Karma – cause and effect?
Correct Lori,
As it is said, yin creates yang. Up creates down. Left creates right.
Distortion births order. These are laws of action. Laws of Karma. Laws of physics. Laws of cause and effect.
Everything in existence cycles. The pendulum swings. The electron pulsates. The Sun rises and sets.
