The instructions for proper meditation are the instructions for life. Just be easy. Innocently favor, do not push. Take life as it comes. Effortlessly lean in the direction. Do not hold tightly. Direction in life is not a clear fixed regiment. It is a faint idea… a feeling. Do not try to force. Do not deny or resist what is. Flow with the effortlessness of water. Gravity carries you if you allow it. Life gravitates toward God. Nature organizes best.
This is how you find the strength of nature, the strength of the Divine, within you. Powerful? Yes. Forceful? No. A strain? No. This is the difference between commitment and confinement. The difference between one-pointed dedication and narrow vision. The difference between limitation and unboundedness.
Be willing to go with the flow of the Divine within you. At first is may seem greater than you. In time, you will realize it is you. The real You. Nature has its own rhythm and timing. Do not push it.
“Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still.” Chinese Proverb
Go with the flow.
Try as you might, you do not live life. Life lives you. There is a cosmic stream. You either fight it, or live in harmony with it. True dedication is not fixation. It is freedom. This is how to find it. This is how you become it. Some call it God’s Plan.
To live it is to be free. Free of what? Free of limitation. Free of conditioning. Free of suffering. Free of the confines and chains of the small self.
Discovery of the True Self. You are One with God. It is just that simple.
As usual, exactly what I needed to hear at this moment!!! Beautifully expressed.
Jai Siva Sankara
I humbly bow at the lotus feet of God. Jai Guru Dev.
Just what I needed to hear right now…
Priceless, timeless, painless…
Beautiful. Thank you, yes, helpful today and everyday to remember…
Jai Siva Sankara
That sounds incredibly difficult.
Do we flow with the stream because we are free of conditioning, or become free of conditioning because we are flowing? I still suffer sometimes, and in hindsight it seems to have have been in the flow, because it pushed me toward the cosmic stream. How to live life is a challenging proposition. I wish I could see it as simple. Some days it is, some days it isn’t.
Through the eyes of conditioning, the Divine can be terrifying, asking you to let go of things to which you cling. Even your notions of God. Notions of Truth, perceived as Truth, hold Truth at bay. Yes?
You flow with the stream because you are free. You become free by opening to the flow. Both are true. You can choose to paddle with the current or against it. The question is whether or not you are caught in an undercurrent that is pulling you down, all the while calling to you.
It is simple but not simplistic.
Cultivate discernment.
Thank you… for another blog that I feel was sent to me “personally”! I am in a place where I don’t really want to be, and I do try to look at the situation as God’s Plan for me right now. It is what it is. I have been feeling “slowed down”, as if I’m spinning my wheels. Afraid of growing too slowly, I guess. Afraid to run out of time, and wanting to make hay while the Sun shines.
You always seem to say what I need just when I need it.
Jai Guru Dev!
For every valid viewpoint, there is an equally valid opposing viewpoint. That is not to say that all viewpoints are valid. Some are just plain wrong. Wisdom is having a healthy relationship with paradox.
Yet so many insist upon being provided with a cookbook for life. I do not provide that because that is not life. It is a lie. There certainly are certain rules and laws to assist you along the way, but your relationship with those laws makes all the difference.
My words are there to assist you in finding truth within yourself. Any of my words can be applied correctly or incorrectly. They can be used to light the way or abused to justify about anything. Do not look for truth in books. Look for truth within the heart of your being. Use books to assist you in finding truth within yourself.
Wondering how one’s intention/prayer/desire might play into the “direction” that the cosmic stream “flows” for an individual?
Intentions, prayers and desires are of value. But remember there is a technology to it as well. Just as with a cell phone. The intention to use it is one thing. Actually picking it up and doing it counts for more.
Yet it is the longing that motivates you to do what you need to do.
This is beautiful! Requires courage and in my humble opinion, a LOT of “Discernment” …
I may sound overly cautious, but I am more than a little concerned about how some of my friends and family will interpret “go with the flow of the divine within you” …
I suspect your answer was/is still “Discernment” but isn’t there a huge risk that we will go with the flow of our bad habits, conditioning/karma …???
I can hear my little brother, mother, sons and daughters repeating back to me about 5-10 years down the road… “But you said go with the flow, dude…”
In my humble opinion, this is a subject that is perhaps too abstract for a blog…space/time are less risky in a blog than this subject because this becomes a way of navigating (or rationalizing) our lives…
Could we say, “Go with the flow that is revealed through cutting-edge discernment” or perhaps “Go with the flow of discernment” ?
Yes Logan. You can say that. If people do not really read what I say and just pull out or project upon it what they will, that is their choice. But if for fear of being misunderstood, I would not speak, then I should never speak. It is up to the reader to look deeply or not. I have put it out there. Now it is theirs to do with it as they will. The attitude with which one approaches any teaching sets the stage determining the likelihood of their receiving it or not.
Understood. I guess this ties in to why I’d prefer to meet one-on-one w/ my clients instead of communicating across time zones. Need to sense their response, feel the dynamic process of understanding.
Not sure I fully agree w/ this quote, but curious what he was thinking.
“Communication must become total and conscious before we can stop it.”
—William S. Burroughs
