It happened again on my way to the temple this morning: I saw a deer, a buck with antlers this time. Many times when stepping out of my home, I see one or more deer. Upon seeing them, I put my palms together and stand respectfully in their presence. The deer stop scurrying, turn, and look at me peacefully, yet with interest. They stay calmly with me until I begin to walk away. They are also most intrigued when I chant a Mantra softly. They listen attentively until I finish.

Ohhhh dearrrrr.
I love deer; so gentle and loving.
Seeing elk last year in Smokey Mountain park at sunset was breathtaking. They’re majestic. They seem used to cars and don’t flee. Never got to see the antlered males or hear their call.
I hope the deer stay here where they are safe from hunters. They’d love you even more if you leave salt licks.
So lovely…..
thank you !
So lovely. So sweet.
Thank you.

Deer quickly figure out where they are safe from hunters. That is actually widely known, which surprised me when I first heard of it decades ago. They come to Mt. Soma every year during hunting season. That was also the case at the ashram where i lived a long time ago.
That’s how it feels to be near you. I am so lucky to be here.
Pranama clearly show you aren’t carrying weapons… Indian way of greeting since times immemorial. Also prevents transmission of bugs. Smart ancestors!!
