Your awareness has a structure, like the lattice structure of a crystal. Ā That lattice processes all the facts, information, emotions, and beliefs you have in a manner unique to that structure. Ā Generally, that structure changes very little as you move through life. Ā All your life experiences are assimilated and processed in a manner determined by that structure. Ā They serve to reinforce that structure as a belief system, as a world-view.
The underlying basis of existence also has a lattice structure. Ā It is called the structure of the Veda. Ā Though multidimensional, it is represented in two dimensions as a yantra. Ā That fundamental structure is called Buddhiā¦ cosmic intellect.
Your evolution, your growth, is not a matter of how much you feed the current structure of your awareness with new facts and understandings. Ā Your evolution is determined by the transformation of the structure of your awareness in the direction of the structure of Buddhi. Ā The Purusha value is the quality of human awareness that is one with the structure of Cosmic awareness, the structure of the Veda. Ā However generally, growth is incorrectly seen as reinforcement of the current structure of your awareness. Ā It is a sort of indoctrination and reinforcement.
Proper meditation frees the awareness to evolve. Ā Proper use of facts and experience will also evolve your awareness. Ā However, that is a very rare and largely forgotten art. Ā That is why I say that I do not teach facts, I use facts to help you evolve. Evolution is not so much about learning new factsā¦ Ā it is about the cultivation of a whole new way of thinking, a new structure to your consciousnessā¦ a structure that is one with the structure underlying all existence. Ā The process is as natural as the blossoming of a rose.
Consciousness is the underlying basis of all that is. Ā Consciousness becomes conscious of itself as other… and duality is born. Ā Aware of the duality, a third thing is born. Ā That process cascades out to infinity as the lattice structure of the Veda emerges.
Your evolution is the process of expansion and transformation of your awareness to the Purusha valueā¦ Buddhiā¦ Cosmic Consciousness.
Truly Awesome!
So many teachings pouring in for re-reflection.
Looking forward to this weekend.
I get excited about the restructuring of my awareness towards the structure of cosmic intellect because it opens up so many new possibilities. I then wonder why everyone doesn’t jump in 100%. This is really the answer to any person’s problems or any society’s problems. I love this!
Very good blog!
This gives new insight into identities, conditioning, samskaras, the storehouse of impressions, etc.
You seem to have infinite creativity in teaching the structure of consciousness while interfacing with all of our limited/different structures of awareness. The words are beautifully stated that when read with an open mind and heart they go in “like butter”.
Barbara,
Excellent. You are correct. I think this blog especially helps clarify the understanding of identity, which is something that some people had trouble with. It is normal and healthy to, for example, be identified with your family, country, profession, etc. However, we often use the word identity to address what i this blog we refer to as the lattice structure of each level of consciousness.
This blog also gives more insight into what is meant by ‘Knowledge is structured in consciousness’. Also what Lord Krishna meant by the Vedas being as useful to an enlightened person as is a well surrounded by water on all sides. Also it offers insight into what is meant in the Veda when it asks what good is the Veda to a person whose consciousness is not awake to that deepest level of existence.
Wow…this seems to be freeing, liberating me to some degree from assumptions that I have been living by, all of my life.
I realize this may be turning into a whole lecture, but could you please expand on this point a little…???
How is it ” …normal and healthy to, for example, be identified with your family, country, profession, etc. However, we often use the word identity to address what i this blog we refer to as the lattice structure of each level of consciousness. ” …???
Assumption 1: All identification is unhealthy, risky or dangerous to your growth – like quicksand. I have believed/felt I must renounce much of life, including, the identification with Family, Profession and Country, in order to grow naturally, unencumbered. Of course discerning negative or destructive aspects from truly life supporting aspects among these sets (Family, profession) is necessary ,critical.
HOWEVER, I fear I have tossed the good out along with the bad. Sighhh…
Truly exquisitely beautiful. I wish we could repeat the California class again starting from this Blog…….
Twice a year is not enough…. š
Thank you. This is wonderful blog. It sets a clear understanding and context for going even deeper… Is this what the upcoming Surya Ram class is about?
Logan,
It is all a matter of how you use the word ‘identity’. It also speaks directly to the nature of renunciation. Some think renunciation means living in a cave, taking only the food that is given to you, etc. That is not so. King Janaka in Vedic literature is a fine and classic example of one who lived fully in the world [one definition of identity] while living a life of renunciation [the other form of identity, i.e. freedom from identity].
Bottom line, you can be awake to your true nature which is free, while functioning responsibly in the world with family, profession, etc. Sort of like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time. 200% of lifeā¦ Absolute and Relative. identity with relativity comes in two distinctly different forms. Depending upon which form, i.e. your definition of identity, it is healthy or not.
Gail,
Class in SF was this and so much moreā¦ but along those lines. The upcoming class at Mount Soma will have the same theme. I am constantly giving the knowledge in new ways, from new angles. This is a portion of how it was expressed in the last class. I am told that it really ‘landed’, took people deeper, clarified things, etc. The process goes on and on.. and then, the awakening happens.
This is also what I mean when I say that once you are enlightened, everything is completely the sameā¦ it is just totally different. All the information is the same. All the facts are the same. All the people are the same. However, the structure of your consciousness is totally different and therefore everything is totally different.
Enlightenment can not be understood when you are on the outside looking in. However, the words used to describe it are ‘understood’ when outside or inside. It is like two parallel universesā¦ completely the same, but totally different.
Indeed it did! Sunday’s class was wonderfully deep and vibrated throughout the next three days. The classes have a lingering effect every time however this last one was moving some serious karma around like no other.
Thank you so very much Brahmarshi!
I agree with Michael Brandon. SF class was very deep, especially Sunday. I’m still digesting the lecture about the structure of the Veda and your famous quote “it’s all done with mirrors”. To me it feels like this is the agnim of the whole lecture. I can reflect on that one for a long time…
Thank you, Maharishi, for taking the stresses and strains of travel to come out here twice a year. It is invaluable!
Thank you! Thank you for clarifying, deepening the meanings of identification, renunciation, and relationship with it all.
….that went right in it seems
This path of our evolution is so beautifully explained. Thank you for planting the seeds to our evolution in your blogs.
Knowledge is structured in consciousness. I love to ponder that. This blog and the classes helped with more clarification.
Thank you Bramarshi
What is meant by “Humility is the flip side of wisdom” is also clarified by the lattice structure of consciousness understanding. I am often struck by the effect being spiritually ‘knowledgable’ has upon people. It seems the more some know, the more fixed and jaded they become. Their knowledge interferes with their gaining of deeper Knowledge. Their model [system, perspective, belief system] regarding spirituality [and all of life for that matter] becomes what I termed in my college years as a “clarity trip”. They can rattle off scripture and explain in detail what it means in a manner consistent with the words of spiritual masters and round and round in a circle they go. Spiritual growth is not a circleā¦ it is a spiral. Like the planets moving through spaceā¦ forward, forward, always forward!
One of the many things that makes me so proud of all of you is the humility you have with respect to the knowledge and your passion and willingness to move beyond your current perspective.
Your mastery of structure came through in SF in a way it never really hit me before. Amazing!
What a great blog. I especially appreciate your comments afterward, Michaelji. Going at the Knowledge with new examples and new analogies is so useful. I recently looked at some of my notes from 1998… some of the words are different but the principles never change. Beautiful.
I also agree with Barbara- why the world is not beating a path to Mount Soma’s door is such a mystery. It speaks to how caught up the world is with superficial thinking.
This is beautiful! Thank you thank you thank you.
