The recent Advanced Techniques Phase 1 Course went incredibly well, with some long-time students saying it was the best course they have ever attended at Mount Soma.
Unfortunately, a number of dedicated students weren’t able to make it to either the summer or winter courses at Mount Soma. Yet, they really want to keep up with the group and not miss the initial wave of Advanced Techniques. Fortunately, Phase 1 has been refined to the point that we feel confident offering them remotely via online videos. We really want everyone to join us for Phase 2 this summer, so we’ve decided to offer an Advanced Techniques, Phase 1 remote course.
We tentatively plan to begin the remote Advanced Techniques Phase 1 Course mid-March to early April. The course will likely be five to six weeks, with new techniques released each week until all of Phase 1 is taught. There will be at least two live streaming meetings with me. More information will be coming out soon!

I’ve been living in these mountains for some 20 years now. I remember thinking that, in time, people probably come to know these mountains pretty well. I’ve come to realize that nobody ever really knows these mountains. They’re a mystery. An old-timer once said that you’ll never know what you might find in these mountains. We will, in time, rediscover Sat Yuga here.
A bit of a storm is coming in tonight… one to three inches of snow. In the air, you can feel it coming… These mountains are ancient… older than the Himalayas. You can still sense the ancient influence of Sat Yuga in them. These mountains are that old… We are most fortunate to live in their midst.
Some of the constants of physics are actually variables that shift slowly over thousands of years… eventually a phase transition happens… like water to ice… bringing about a new age… a new Yuga… a whole ‘new’ transition in the laws of nature… the laws of physics…
Soon the Advanced Techniques, Phase 1 Course will be upon us and after that, the Ashram people will be learning Phase 2 of the Advanced Techniques… Oh, so humbling…

There are so many different understandings of Christ: who he is, what he is. As we refine our understanding of nature and existence, so too do we refine our understanding of everything. This includes our understanding of Christ. As we evolve, instead of rejecting our earlier notions of Christ, we do well to be open to a deeper understanding of Christ. I would think that even the most skeptical among us are open to the ideas of modern physics. Namely the idea that everything is born from the same one thing. We have only just begun to fathom the significance of that, and the insights it could provide to understand the spirituality of Oneness, the notion of the Christ.
Still, in a more humble sense, we can all embrace Christmas as a feeling of love, peace, and harmony we share. Whatever one’s level of understanding, the notion of Christmas offers us all a richer, more beautiful, and meaningful life. Regardless of our religion, intellectual understanding, or position, may we all feel into those values and come together during this holiday season to celebrate the tender beauty of life.
Merry Christmas!

This is my new favorite beverage. I like to use it to prepare chai. I buy it on Amazon.
You can learn about it on the Nutrition Facts site or a Matcha site whose purpose is to make Matcha more accessible.
I understand that organic Macha from Japan is the best. The ‘ceremonial’ version is less bitter, but more expensive. Personally, I just use the culinary version and am very happy with it. I just add it to hot water, sweetener of choice, and the chai spices that are sold in the Mount Soma gift shop.
Unfortunately, some studies show that adding milk to tea (or cocoa) cancels the health benefits.
I am sure many of you are far more familiar with Matcha than I am. Comments are welcome.
Enjoy!

The last couple of holiday seasons have been challenging for me. Some of you have sent (some anonymously) little gifts (treats, etc.) that are most warmly and humbly received.
Today we had our Christmas dinner at Mount Soma. As I looked around the room, I felt the family of dear friends comprising our Surya Ram community. You are all so deeply appreciated.
Wherever you may be over the next days, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
