Vibrations

vibrationsEverything and Everywhere has a vibration.  The vibrations you surround yourself with and the vibrations you hold within you do more to determine your life than anything else.  In fact, they are your life.  Even vibrations that you resist color your world.  In fact, your resistance too is a vibration.

You access vibrations, not through thoughts, but through feelings.  Deep inside, in a place beyond any denial or rationalization, you feel the truth of every vibration you experience.  The gateway to that truth is called innocence.  Innocence is not naivety.  Innocence is untainted, unadulterated self-honesty.

Tend carefully to the vibrations in your life.  Your thoughts are a vibration.  Your words are a vibration. Your feelings are a vibration.  Your food is a vibration. Your home, your community, you workplace… all are vibrations.  Your environment from moment to moment is a vibration. Where you put your attention is a vibration.  You are the vibrations you sustain within your self… mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Meditation permeates you with the exquisite vibration of the divinity of your own soul.  Mantras culture your vibration in a manner unique to each.

Vedic Pandits live a lifestyle highly determined by vibrations.  They must keep their physiology fine, in an environment of fine vibrations, so they can be conduits of the sublime vibrations of the mantras.

Everything has/is a vibration.  Vibration is the essence of mojo (see mojo blog from earlier this month).  Your vibrations determine your life, your health, your psyche… everything.

This all is not to say that you must constantly be concerned about the vibrations around you, for that would create a vibration of fear and unrest. Be easy with the notion of vibration.  But do pay attention.  If you do that, your own divine nature will spontaneously guide you to a more and more fulfilling and evolutionary life.

Waste Not Want Not

“Waste is worse than loss. The time is coming when every person who lays claim to ability will keep the question of waste before him constantly. The scope of thrift is limitless.” –Thomas Edison

The worst waste is the waste of time.  Use time wisely.  It is the only thing that is provided in limitation.

True Happiness 2

walk I received some lovely comments to the blog ‘True Happiness.’  One of them ended with:

“We have to make sure that we do not distinguish between our bounded and unbounded states making one more worthy than the other for both have equal worth… it’s the perspective that matters!!”

It is important to understand fundamental differences between the two levels.  One that I would like to mention is that you cannot get the depth right by focusing on the surface.  However, you can pretty much take care of the surface, through proper attention to the depth.  Yes, it is important to put a great deal of attention on the surface, but for the most part, people do so to the exclusion of putting sufficient attention on the depth.

Similarly, water the root of a plant, tend to the root, and the rest of the plant pretty much takes care of itself.  Tend as you may to the rest of the plant without providing the root with sufficient water and care, and the rest of the plant is doomed.   This is the plight of Kali Yuga… too much attention to the surface.

That is not a matter of perspective.  The laws of nature are what they are.

Now I do believe the writer of the comment I quoted above would agree with this.  I just want to be sure that we all remains very clear on it.  As I look around, most everyone lacks proper balance in this regard.

The Kingdom of Heaven lies within.

Your Worth

It consistently surprises me to see most people behave in a manner that indicates they do not really believe the following quote:

“Your worth consists in what you are and not in what you have.”   –Thomas Edison

To profess that you believe this is one thing.  To live your life accordingly is quite another.  Get on with your evolution! Get on with your purpose. Have something great to show for your life after it is over.

Time is wasting away!

True Happiness

skyThe small individual self, by its very nature, is polarizing. It is important to be devoted to the self. However, the self must grow to become the greater Universal Self. To the small self, as the process occurs, it can feel like an abandonment or loss of control. It turns out to be emancipation.

You want to be happy? You want to be fulfilled? Then move beyond the small you. Some call this loss of ego. That is actually not correct. It is really the evolution of ego to become cosmic Ego… One with the Totality.

Oftentimes, the problem with psychotherapy is that its goal becomes to strengthen the small self. There is no fulfillment there. Evolution means integration of the bounded with the unbounded… not the strengthening of the bounded.

Commit to the unbounded… become free.

Asking the small self to stay positive is like insisting the little remain little, stay attached to its littleness, but become big. When a child grows up, toys just naturally lose their charm. True positivity only comes about when one outgrows identity with the small self.

Integration means acting through the small self, but not being lost to the smallness of the small self. People want their small self to be happy. That is not possible. Happiness occurs as one awakens to the True Self. Pleasure, happiness, fulfillment, joy, etc. – all these things must take on a new meaning before you can have them.

You do not become the Sun by holding it at bay and trying to mimic it from afar. That is simply another form of denial… “Don’t Even kNow I Am Lying”.

To be happy, become big. Which is to say, lose your self to your God. There is a Cosmic Divine Flow… join it. However, that is not attained through attitude. It is the cultivation of a state of consciousness – a state of physiology.

Proper meditation is your best tool. Humble reflection upon these words, which are designed to free you, is also essential. If the reflection is not humble, the meaning is lost as the words are assimilated in the context of the listener’s belief system.  They cease to be what they were.

Spiritual teachings are not true spiritual teachings if they just give you a belief system to cling to. They must be designed to free you of your belief systems. Thereby, you awaken to the Cosmic Flow, which is in fact Your Own True Nature. See?

The Year of Positivity

branchWith all that is going on in your life and in the world, it can feel like a challenge to remain positive.  But positivity is not about the surface.  It is about the depth.

What is life’s deepest purpose?  What is your deepest relationship with God and how does that determine the course of your life?  In fact, how does that determine the course of all of life?

Being positive simply means knowing and remembering the answers to such questions and remaining committed to those answers as the underlying theme and purpose of your life.

Yes, of course, you must tend to the surface.  That includes the joy as well as the difficulties.  But they must never overshadow your deepest purpose.  You are here to evolve… not only yourself, but also all the world.

By holding that in your heart, and living with steadfast commitment to that, you are living a life of positivity.  Forward, forward…. be it knee deep in mud, flood, or famine, or basking in the joy of the bright sunshine… do not be distracted.

Positivity means unyielding commitment to the Divinity within you.

Mojo

mojoMojo is a term made popular from the southern blues music era.  It means a charmed, almost magical, component to your life.

I am sure you have noticed how some people seem to lead a charmed life in one form or another.  Some always seem to get a nice place to live, some always seem to have people around that help them out, others may have a knack at making money, or even winning the lotto.

You have a deep relationship with the Divine.  It is unique to you.  You do well to explore the nature of that relationship and do all you can to cultivate it, nurture it, evolve it.  That is the art of cultivation of mojo.

In the west, it is called ‘luck’.  In the Vedic Tradition, it is called ‘support of nature’.

By living in harmony with your own true nature, you live in harmony with all of nature, and thereby receive the support of all of Mother Nature.  That is the ‘stuff’ mojo is made of.

Your mojo is unlike any other person’s mojo.  Pursue it.  Discover it.  Live it.  “How?” you ask.  By meditating, coming to classes (i.e. reflecting deeply within in a manner that take you out of the confinement of your preconceived notions), visiting Mount Soma and Sri Somesvara Temple, and doing your best to live life in accord with what you learn from those experiences.

In the words of Will Rogers, “I would rather be lucky than good.”  Translated into Vedic understanding,  “By living in harmony with nature, you gain the support of all of Nature.”

In the words of the southern blues movement, “Get your mojo workin’ “.

Truth and Time… Again

abstractWinston Churchill said, “We occasionally stumble over the truth but most of us pick ourselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.”

If he were not correct, Sat Yuga would never end.

Of course, if that were so, time would not breath.

Of course if time did not breath, there would be no manifest universe.

Up creates down.  Complexity is born of simplicity.

The Evolution of Religion

handsSigmond Freud said, “The more the fruits of knowledge become accessible to men, the more widespread is the decline of religious belief.”

Adi Shankara called the spiritual path the path of discernment.  As one discerns, ones understanding evolves.  To evolve means to change.  If one clings to old understandings, discernment ceases and evolution is obstructed.  Dogma then prevails.  If that is done, religion stagnates and is then rejected by those who discern.

Use knowledge to evolve your spiritual understanding.  When done with wisdom, humility, and grace this process does not mark the decline of religion but the blossoming of it.

To discard the old all together is to throw out the baby with the bathwater, but to use knowledge to evolve ones understanding is to separate the wheat from the chaff.
