Churchill again
If you have ten thousand regulations you destroy all respect for the law. – Winston Churchill

If you have ten thousand regulations you destroy all respect for the law. – Winston Churchill

2011 was The Year of Change. The world entered a time of great flux economically, socially, politically, etc. In 2012, things will restructure in a manner that will determine the course of global dynamics for years to come. This is the beginning of a new era, just as post WW2 and post Cold War established new eras.
Change is usually accompanied by volatility and fear. For example, the price of gold will likely fluctuate wildly as it, I feel, will continue its long-term march upward. Though change is what people want… a better life, etc, the instability it brings is often uncomfortable. Over 2012, positivity can blow the winds of global karma in the most favorable direction.
With the MMWPP, group meditations, and Sri Somesvara Temple, we will here, at Mount Soma, be a force of positivity for the world. I intend to go to India in April to do what more I can.
You are a meditator. Your thoughts and actions have a powerful effect on global consciousness. Positivity is a state of physiology. You can choose to ride the wave of change, leaning in the direction of positivity. Do not underestimate your position and your influence.
This is the year for and of positivity.
The deep beautiful feelings underlying Christmas are universal. All rejoice and are humbled before such exquisite feelings. Such sublime feelings emanate from the best of who and what we are. It matters not if one is Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, or atheist in this regard. Divinity is universal.
Did you know that all across the world people of all faiths happily wish one and other a Merry Christmas? No matter who you are or what you believe about history or circumstance, it is essential to take time out along the way to rejoice and recognize the essence of Christmas.
Admittedly, much of what Christmas is on the surface is cultural and arbitrary. But what Christmas is at its depth is humanity’s lifeblood. It is more essential than air, food, and water. Indeed, it outlives the body. It is the Song of the Soul. Without the deep feelings that we renew on Christmas, life withers on the vine. A life dedicated to that essence is a life well lived.
No matter what your religion, even if it is non-religion, this is true. Only the words, which dwell on the surface may vary and be debated. To renew and enliven those feelings is to feed the soul. It gives life meaning. It is life’s meaning.
So it is with heartfelt dedication to all humanity that I wish you a Very Merry Christmas!! God Bless you, one and all.
I understand that with the appearance of the temple some may wonder if I am a Hindu. I have spoken of cultural integrity so, so many times. But here it goes one more time.
I am a westerner. I have no intention of trying to become Indian or Hindu. I am what I am. A big part of my teaching is cultural integrity. Cultures should not blur together any more than colors in a painter’s arsenal should all be mixed into one heap. They must each keep their own integrity, yet they must learn to live in harmony with one and other. I know that if misunderstood, this sounds like segregation with all its prejudicial baggage, but it is not. There is a huge difference between cultural integrity and prejudice. Are the inclinations you feel within yourself those of cultural integrity or prejudice? This arena merits exploration.
I have a deep respect for the culture out of which Vedic knowledge was birthed and has been upheld. It is the portal through which we have been given access to the Knowledge of Natural Law (the Veda). The temple then is approached through that portal. It honors the integrity of that culture. That culture has provided the pipeline to, the conduit to, the technology of the Unified Field. Like physics or any other science, the Knowledge is universal. The Veda is universal. Sanskrit is not Indian, it is universal. However, our access to all that knowledge is via the Indian culture. That is not to say that everything Indian is Vedic. But our access to Vedic knowledge is certainly through that culture.
Can you uphold your own integrity while honoring another’s or not? In a nutshell, that is what cultural integrity is all about. It is what the world must learn to do. It is what we are creating a model of (for the world) at Mount Soma. As I have said, it will take about 3 years to put it all together here at Mount Soma. We must provide a space for each culture to rest comfortably within its own nature. This will take some time. It will require some patience. Completion of the Student Union next month will help a great deal. At that time, the Mountain View room in the Learning Center will become a cultural center for the temple.
Over the next few years, let’s take care to keep our eye on that ball and not get confused regarding our purpose, who we/you are, and cultural integrity.
Do you want peace on earth? Do you really? Then let’s start here and now and create it for the entire world.
I have not written about this for a while so in case you are wondering, my economic perspective on things has not changed. Current events over the past year or two have only reconfirmed everything. Global debt, particularly in Europe and the US, will continue to mandate the printing of more money. Gold will continue to march upward. Housing will remain very depressed. Global unrest will continue. This dynamic will remain for the next decade at least. However, if you plan wisely, you will be fine and can even prosper.
Let me make it clear that I am NOT a financial advisor and this is only my opinion. You must make your own decisions. Yet those of you who have been listening to me know that I have been correct so far.
Gold will become the new money backing (at least in part) the new world currency. Current currencies will fall. Trying to keep your wealth in the right currency now is like trying to buy the nicest house in a bad neighborhood. Gold and other commodities will go up in price significantly, while housing prices stagnate or go down. If you can, buy gold, take delivery, and put it in a safe deposit box in an institution that you trust. Still, keep an eye on the institution to be certain it is safe. Be prepared to withdraw the gold if need be.
Decide where you want to live long-term and move there now. Do not even think about what your current house WAS worth. It is not worth that much now. Why wait for it to go back up when other investments are far more promising? Take the cash for the house, invest it, and move on. It is remarkable to me how so many cry over spilled milk and just cannot let it go! Even if housing prices did rebound a bit, other investments will go up much more. In the mean time, you are living somewhere you do not want to be while the cost of housing where you would like to be move with the market anyway. Also, construction costs will continue to rise. For example, local dealers here have announced that drywall will go up 30% as of January 1.
There will be local pockets of prosperity even in the US (which is and will continue to be on an economic decline). Needless to say, I am confident Mount Soma will be on an economic upturn throughout this period that will, in general, be most difficult for most regions.
Because of the emotion involved due to people’s intense identity with their money, wise financial decisions remain elusive for most. It is not rocket science. It is common sense. The expression, “Wake up and smell the coffee” comes to mind. The major global economic trends are clearly visible to all who are willing and able to look. You must become free of the limited thinking that your conditioned identity dictates.
There is no greater blessing than to know from deep within your being that Vedic science is valid. My hours of lecturing is only of value if it inspires you to take the necessary steps to experience that directly for yourself. So many hear my lectures and are inspired by them. Yet, who has the courage to move forward and discover it within themselves? More than anywhere else, I see that happening in the people of the ashram program here at Mount Soma. I find the process of that awakening most fascinating. They begin to feel it, to experience it, long before they mentally understand what it is they are experiencing.
Old thoughts associated with previous conditioning linger, even after your being has begun to awaken. This leaves you in a transitional state between what you were and what you are becoming. A torential tug-of-war ensues… i.e. the churning process. Return to the old and familiar, or move forward into the currently unknown… the new… a new level of being. This is the crossroads of your eternal existence. The decision is yours. Transition is always a bit disconcerting, isn’t it?
It’s the nature of change.
I just returned to Mount Soma from a wonderful class in San Francisco. It had a bit of a different feeling from any class I have ever given.
One memorable moment was when someone said that they felt that they needed to live in the “real world” which is what they are accustomed to. My relationship with this person is so long standing and solid that I knew I could respond bluntly. “You mean that twisted pinball machine of a world?”
Her smile invited me to go on, “You call that the real world? What a strange relationship with life… with the notion of reality. It is as if you are so accustomed to living in a meat grinder that it has become the only reality you believe in. Life is not meant to be the way your ‘real world’ has led you to believe.”
She responded very well. It was, I believe, eye-opening for her. After a brief pause I could not help but to look down, shake my head, and mutter under my breath, “The real world.”
Life is meant to be evolutionary. “Street Smart” is a rationalization for looking out at life while your nose is in the gutter and deciding that things stink.
Do not allow yourself to live that kind of life. Bringing forth the Age of Enlightenment is about birthing a lotus flower out of the muddy swamp.
Please do not live a life where you believe the mud is the real world. If you must believe in a “Real World,” believe in the lotus flower and join me to bring it forth for all humanity.
That is not so far away, but we must keep our eye on the ball.
If you have been having a bit of a hard time lately, please hang in there just a bit longer!
Sun and Mars are in their signs of debilitation (they stay in a sign for about a month or so). Saturn will continue to be vargottama in Virgo until mid-November.
Moon has been debilitated and conjunct Rahu for a couple days and will be for another day. Mars is about to go out of debilitation. Sun has a couple more weeks to go.
If things have been difficult for you lately, as I have seen for a number of people, a Winston Churchill quote might apply:
Politics is almost as exciting as war and quite as dangerous. In war you can only be killed once, but in politics – many times.
This is true not only of politics but also of life in general, and certainly in matters of the heart.
As a spiritual teacher, I pour my heart out. I lead with my heart. It affects me deeply when people are not doing well.
Yet there is only so much I can do. And sometimes, as I have said before, the best gift you can give someone is to just give time and space. As I write this, I can think of a number of different people who likely think I am writing it just to them… and I guess they are each right. Hang in there.
I have not spoken about gold for some time so if you are wondering: Yes, in my humble opinion gold will continue to go up. I believe it will trade between $2000 and $3000 per ounce soon.
Yet from what I have seen, even knowing this, few can simply buy and hold. Usually gold goes down a bit and people sell in fear. Then it goes up a bit and they buy. In short, they buy high and sell low.
If you are in a position to buy gold, I suggest you buy, take delivery, put it in a safe or deposit box and forget you have it. Do not buy on margin or try to out smart the short term trends unless you are way, way smarter (or luckier) than I.
This is a reasonable perspective in my opinion from Monty guild’s website:
We aren’t buying into the endless fear and scare scenario, and don’t believe that the European banking system will melt down. Fear-based reporting may make riveting headlines and draw readers’ attention, but the facts, as we see them, tell a different story and do not support the panic that is sown so routinely in the media.
Personally, I am committed to the world. For that reason, I put what money I have into Mount Soma. I would prefer to build housing for people to live here rather than increase my balance sheet. Anything tangible, like gold or a home, will, in time, vastly out perform cash. But do not take my word for it. You need to make that call for yourself or consult with whomever you believe in. That is your call.
After all, I am not a financial advisor. I am just a “fool on a hill.”
Here is an interesting quote from Winston Churchill:
~
“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
~
~
Though I prefer to not get into a long commentary on economic systems at this time, I will say that things are changing rapidly now.
~
Current thinking will go through radical changes (for the better) over the next decade or so. Yet the transition will be an uncomfortable surprise to many who currently consider themselves to be ‘enlightened thinkers’.”
~
Prepare for change. Prepare to change.
~
Take the words of an old man when asked for advise on longevity. “Embrace change with both arms.”
~
Right now the world is going through a birthing process, which includes the well-known birthing pains. Through the transition, good times will arrive.
~
How long it will take and how comfortable (or uncomfortable) the transition is up to us.
We are now in the midst of a great transition in world affairs. Things will get more challenging before they get better.
It has been said, and I agree, that it is like a birthing process that will last throughout this decade but will bring forth a great period of enlightenment.
Value systems and belief system will change over this decade. It will be a sobering process that will lead to a time of prosperity and spiritual renewal. Thinking will change.
As most of you know, I have been foretelling of this time for decades now. Mount Soma will be a haven for many to not only weather the storm, but to enjoy the time of renewal that follows.
Opportunities like this come about extremely rarely in human history. Now is the time to act.
