Regardless of religious affinity or nationality, Christmas is a time we can all celebrate the birth of a great soul. Whatever degree the accuracy of facts that surround his life, they wax insignificant in proportion to the Truth of the Absolute he has touched in the lives of so many throughout the centuries. With dignity and courage, he stood up for the Divinity that dwells within us all. What greater thing could be asked of any being?
And in that regard, you all have my deepest respect. The path to enlightenment does indeed require dignity and courage. Your commitment to that is most honorable. It is not always easy. But forward, forward, always forward we go. We at times stumble, yet we again stand tall and continue. I could not be prouder, nor could I be more grateful than to have the opportunity to be by your side as we continue upon this most laudable path.
With deeply heartful gratitude and joy, a Merry Christmas to you, one and all.

I go largely by feel, by ‘intuition’ if you prefer that word. (Of course, it must always be tempered with the intellect.) I feel clearly that it is the right time to have a powerful deep meditation retreat this winter.
Interestingly enough, when I last spoke with jyotishi, Sanjay Rath, he enthusiastically advised that we have a retreat at that time… “The timing is perfect!” He was delighted to learn that it was already planned! He said it is a very important retreat for people to attend, will be incredibly powerful for those individuals and for the entire world. Major transformation could result. Things should really, really take off!
It always fascinates me… how jyotish can be so precise and how Sanjay so often, from his calculations, concludes exactly what I feel from within my being. It seems that everyone here at Mount Soma senses a powerful wave coming.
If you can attend the Deep Dive Course, do yourself and the world a favor by making it happen… I hope to see many of you then.

It is said that Sri Anandamayi Ma did not go through incarnations. Rather, She incarnated for her devotees. This has been my favorite picture of Her for over thirty years.

“When it is found, nothing else remains to be found; the sense of want will not awaken anymore, and the heart’s torment be stilled for ever. Do not be satisfied with fragmentary happiness, which is invariably interrupted by shocks and blows of fate; but become complete, and having attained to perfection, be YOURSELF” – Sri Anandamayi Ma

How can it be put into words? It’s magic… like a great miracle. To witness it is such an incredible privilege. The power is increasing daily. Yes, every single day. Is it even possible for the people immersed in it to fully appreciate what is happening? I am so moved by what they are doing… what they are making come to be. Their evolution is growing exponentially. They are on an incredible roller coaster ride of evolution. To see them hang in there and make it happen is such an honor. I know that such rapid evolution is not always easy. Their entire physiology and psyche is birthing anew. Yet they hang in there and keep moving forward, forward, always forward.
To appreciate it, you must experience it. The closer the Sun, the hotter the heat, and the faster the growth. Few step up to that plate, but those that do are most blessed. Visitors of Mount Soma are so fortunate. Yet the people who live here and make it happen on a daily basis… well, what can I say? I salute you. Yes, it takes pressure to make a diamond. But to see it happening, to see you doing it… that is truly magnificent.

There are many fascinating things the old timers say about these mountains. One recently noted that the yellow jackets are building their nests in the trees instead of underground… “A sure sign that we will have a heavy winter.”
It will be interesting to see what happens.

I remember summers when I was a kid. Sun up to sun down, every day was an adventure. The air was fresh and sweet. Plants were lush. It was wonderful to be alive.
It has been a great joy this summer at Mount Soma to watch the kids. They have added a marvelous and magical dimension to our community. It is so delightful to watch them herd from the Center to the Union, to one home and the next as they stop to chat with the neighbors and friends. They are watched over, but the sense of freedom they display reminds me of my enchanted childhood days. The latest adventure is their pursuit of the mysterious enchanted white cat… an apparent stray in the neighborhood.
Energy is of course a very real thing with very real effects. Even coming home to Mount Soma from Asheville, the shift from frantic to sublime is palpable. When the physiologies are young and growing, how fortunate it is for them to be cultured in such a refined environment.
Kids seem to be particularly perceptive of the energy here,
with recent comments like, “We never want to leave this mountain.”

My gratitude to all those who sent their warm wishes, both written and ‘through the ethers’, this Guru Purnima day.

Today we launch a made for iPad series, “On My Mind.” This series is a compilation of Michael Mamas blogs from past years, beginning with his earlier blogs. Those of us that have worked on compiling this series are pleased to present this first book on Guru Purnima to honor our teacher.
We will release another book every few weeks until there are no more blogs in the archives. Then, future books will come when there are enough blogs to compile another book.
I hope you enjoy revisiting these blogs in this way. Any ratings and comments in the iTunes store would be appreciated and a wonderful way to spread the word to those who may not know about Dr. Michael Mamas and Mount Soma.
Thank you all for your continued support.

If you were at class in SF, please take a moment to add a comment about one or two of the most impactful, interesting, or important points that came up or experiences you had over the long weekend.
As I reflect on the three days, I feel there were many things that came up that would be valuable to share, not only for people who have been to other classes, but also for those that have never attended a class and wonder what they are like.
